Medical Play/Art Therapy
The Art Therapy sessions provides media exploration, multi-culturalism and non-verbal expression using a variety of art materials. The 4 E's are done in the sessions; Exposure, Educate,
Explore and Experience. The individuals will experience the art and create unique paintings, sculpture, writings, drawings and murals.
To begin the Art Therapy sessions, a minimum 8-week cycle commitment is needed. The 8-week cycle includes; an initial interview, an assessment, individual notes, art experiences, closing
session and art portfolio. The initial interview will allow the therapist to learn about the individual's history and what brought the individual to Art Therapy. Art Therapy based
assessments may be used at some point in the sessions, such as mandalas, scribble drawings and H-T-P (house, tree, person). Individual notes will be taken at each session to document the
session. The art experience is mainly a studio approach, which allows the client to explore different art mediums. At the closing session the client and therapist will review and reflect
on the past sessions. At the end of the 8-week cycle the client may be encouraged to continue with the Art Therapy treatment and/or be referred to other services. The art sessions can be
facilitated in the convenience of your home, school, office, hospital or a place that works best for you.
