Jessica Fox MA, ATR-BC, LCAT

Jessica Fox has been providing Art Therapy to her clients for over eighteen years. She conveniently schedules Art Therapy and Counseling Services for children, adolescents, couples and families in their homes.  She is a Licensed, Board Certified Creative Arts Therapist.  Her experiences include working with adults, children, families and couples.  She has worked in schools, shelters, drop-in centers, prisons, community clubhouses, hospitals, and mediation centers.  She has provided in-services at schools and hospitals to the Service Team. She has conducted lectures and workshops with graduate students, professionals and high school students.  She has done art experientials with teens in school and has mentored children voluntarily.

Jessica Fox has a Masters of Art Degree from Hofstra University where she was enrolled in the Creative Arts Therapy Program.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude.  Her thesis was on self-esteem and the exhibition of art.  She did pre and post test to clients to see if their self-esteem was affected by exhibiting their art work.  The results showed most of the clients tested increased their self-esteem dramatically after the art exhibition.   Jessica Fox continues to believe in showcasing client's art work.  Over the years, she has facilitated more than ten art exhibits in the various institutions she has worked at.  One of the Shelter Resident Art Shows was filmed and aired on News 12.  The segment was called "Hope for the Homeless", it highlighted the art show and the benefits of Art Therapy for the homeless population.  Jessica Fox was interviewed personally about her involvement in curating the show and her role as an Art Therapist with the homeless.  Jessica Fox emphasized that "Art Heals."  

Jessica Fox is a member of the AATA (American Art Therapy Association), ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board), NYATA (New York Art Therapy Association).   Jessica Fox is an Art Therapist and also a Fine Artist.  She is part of BWAC (Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition) and Art (That Matters), an artist collective.  She is continually exhibiting her artistic talents in mixed media, oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings throughout NY.

As a Creative Art Therapist, Jessica Fox believes in the holistic approach.  Jessica Fox focuses on the whole person and all of his/her parts.  A specific curriculum will be created to meet each individual's needs.  She incorporates all of the Creative Arts Therapies; Music, Drama, Poetry and Art.  She has done group work with adolescents focusing on specific music genres with the art expression.  She has worked with children of abusive families building self-esteem and empowerment.  She has worked with adolescents on prevention of drugs and alcohol using the art as a modality.  Jessica Fox has worked with individual children with ADHD to change behaviors to function better in school and with peers.  Jessica Fox has provided Art Therapy with couples trying to build healthier more stable relationships.  She has provided Art Therapy to Adults with Mental Health issues that want to develop better ways to cope with their symptoms.  Jessica Fox provided bereavement couseling and art therapy to 9/11 Victim's Families at the Healing and Remembrance on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.

Jessica Fox in 2009 spoke to NYC Council members in City Hall to fight the cuts and the need to keep Recreation Departments in the homeless shelters. They won the fight and the programming and jobs are still in place presently.  Jessica Fox presented at the American Art Therapy Association Conference in Washington D.C. July 2011 on the Creative Selves; Defining the Artist in the Homeless Shelter.  Jessica Fox in 2013 conducted a lecture at C.W. Post on the Homeless and Art Therapy to college students majoring in Art Therapy.  Jessica Fox presented a workshop; Walking the Painted Path: Finding our Way to professionals at the Expressive Therapies Summit in NYC in November 2013.  She also presented at the Delaware Valley Art Therapy Association Conference September 2014 on Art Therapy with the homeless.
